MY EXPERIENCE IN THE VILLAGE AS A TEACHER

After my 3weeks of camping in Old MacGregor, I was posted to an interior part of Ikwo local government where there is no tarred road, no network, no light and to compound it, no commercial means of transportation.
I cried my eyes out seeing the situation I was left to cope with for the next 11 months of my life. But, what to do? I was the one that said I wanted to serve my fatherland. After thinking about everything, how I marched on parade ground in MacGregor camp till our passing out day from camp, I won't just forgive my platoon officer cos I was the only corps member posted to that school and that school happened to be the only school in Elugwu-Ettam (the name of the village).
I decided I couldn't stay there alone so, I liased with one of my friends living in the next village and told her i'll be staying with her then go to school from her place since I was the only one. She accepted and I was happy knowing I won't be lonely and bored as I thought.
Now, how do I go to my school in Elugwu-Ettam from Item-Amagu (the village where my friend stays) everyday as there is no commercial means of transportation? Then we (me and my friend) concluded we were going to talk to one of her students who brings his motorcycle  (no be correct motorcycle like "bajaj" or "boxer" ooo na "ladies bike") to school to be taking me down to my school and come and pick me in the afternoon then we'll discuss if he'll be collecting money on monthly basis or i'll buy him fuel on a daily basis. We agreed and met a student named "Crusade". Imagine the name sef! Some parents can give their children some weird names abi the mama born am for crusade program?
Crusade agreed to be taking me down to school and bringing me back on the condition that i'll tip him money for fuel any day he takes me down. "Thank you! God bless you" I replied with excitement. At least I've settled that. And did I mention that if you have a "ladies bike" in that village, you're regarded as a rich man? Hmmm....Crusade na big boy!
One fateful day as Crusade came to pick me up from school and we were returning to my friend's lodge, he started a convo with me. He said "Aunty!"  I answered "Yes" He continued "I go like get your number oooo" looking confused, I said "my number? For what?" He said "errrmm....nothing! I jus wan collect am make I dey reason you for phone." In my mind I screamed. I was like "I don die! See this small rat....e wan dey reason him grandma for phone" I kept mum for about 2mins thinking of the next reply to give him cos it won't look and sound mature of me to start shouting on him. I just asked "Are you coming to school tomorrow? " he said "Yes aunty!" I then told him "give me your number, i'll call you myself" he gladly gave me with smiles on his face sef as he called the digits.
I collected it and we had already gotten to my friend's lodge. I came down and gave him his money to buy fuel as we earlier agreed. Hissed and walked away....Lol
